Governor’s coin awarded to our Editor ‘for excellence’ in journalism

The Governor has presented his commmorative coin to PANORAMA Editor Joe Garcia 'for excellence' in journalism.

Lieut General Edward Davis, Governor and Commander in Chief, said: "Mr Joe Garcia receives the Governor’s Coin for a remarkable and profoundly significant contribution to journalism in Gibraltar."

This took place at The Convent on Friday where the Governor and the Editor spent an hour discussing local and international issues.

Said a post from Salvador Duarte: "Top journalist, Par Excellence, his political savvy is enormous would have been an asset in Parliament. Congrats well deserved."

This is Joe's 50th anniversary year as a newspaper editor. He has also written extensively about Gibraltar in the international press, including being Gibraltar correspondent for the prestigious 'Financial Times' for 25 years and Spain's leading daily 'El Pais' fo 10 years, putting Gibraltar's news and views across.
