Gibraltar Rhythmic Gymnastics off to Birmingham

This weekend 6 girls from the Gibraltar Rhythmic Gymnastics will travel to Birmingham UK to test in the British Qualification testing.

The Espoir squad (Lili Murphy, Nyah Galia, Lauren Garcia, Thea Cawthorn, Chanel Trinidad) are testing to see if they can fight for one of the 5 exclusive spots and be selected in the British Squad for group and hopefully follow in the footsteps of Olympian Georgina Cassar and Commonwealth Gymnast and BG group member Nicola Bosio.

The group last year came 3rd overall in British Championships and will have to test against the rest of UK groups to try obtain their spot.

They have been training extremely hard the last 6 months preparing for this with ballet teacher Suzanne Haslman coming over to check their ballet progress and make sure the Gibraltar girls are heading in the correct direction.

Along with the ballet exam, the girls have to do a full flexibility exam and conditioning exam.

Joining the group will be junior gymnast Kylie Gavizio for her individual testing to try for the junior section and Lili Murphy in Pre Espoir.

We wish the girls all the best of luck.
