Combat aircraft on last call

Throughout its service life of nearly 40 years, RAF Tornado aircraft and crews have regularly deployed to RAF Gibraltar, in order to train in the clear skies over the Mediterranean and to conduct operations.

Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo, said: ‘It is sad that we won’t see these magnificent aircraft roar over the Rock again, however, the Tornado has served us well and has a proud history. Whilst we are sad to see it withdrawn from service, we look forward to making Gibraltar’s facilities available for future generations of RAF combat aircraft.’
