Public outcry as anti-social behaviour and violence gets out of control

There was a time when we in Gibraltar were lucky enough to regard barking dogs and noisy neighbours as anti-social behaviour. But our society like many others has moved on a notch or two since then. Proof of this was another one of these episodes during early hours of Saturday morning that shocked countless people. These shocking scenes depicted on video that went viral, on mobile messaging apps, and across social media platforms.

The incident at the petrol station by the Waterport roundabout was one of a very serious violent nature.

What are the Police and Courts doing about this? Unsurprisingly both have been the subject of criticism in the past and in this latest incident where the police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward.

It is difficult to see or understand how these issues of public concern are really being tackled and if operational plans to effectively curb the increasing anti-social behaviour have failed, particularly in the same hotspots known to the police, occurring practically on the same days of the week.

There are obviously problems regarding the effective operational policing of these anti-social behaviour incidents, as we saw at the weekend, Incidents that are now turning really nasty and of serious danger to the public!
