Museum acquires 18th century gold watch

At a press call yesterday in the presence of heritage Minister Prof. John Cortes, the Gibraltar National Museum announced their acquisition of an 18th Century gold watch, signed by Henry Cowper, who was listed in the 1777 List of Inhabitants as a Goldsmith born in Gibraltar.

 He is more well-known locally as the owner of the theatre in Cornwall’s Parade or ‘La Calle Comedia’ as it was known then. The watch is expected to be exhibited for the first time at this year’s Museum Open Day on Saturday 18th March.
