Two main objectives for dialysis charity

Sunil Chandiramani, as President of the Gibraltar Dialysis Patients and Friends Association, says the charity has two main objectives. The first is to care for the well-being of Dialysis Patients and helping by bringing them all together to better their understanding of dialysis and related problems.

The second objective is to form an awareness organisation to advise and inform the local health authorities and others of problems as and when they arise affecting or related to kidney disease.

In this connection, the charity are planning an awareness campaign for World Kidney Day (14 March). This is the first time that World Kidney Day is being celebrated in Gibraltar. "As such, we should be most grateful for your support in our awareness drive," they say.

And add: In addition to raising awareness via local companies, Government Departments and schools, the main event of the day will take place at Westside School during breaktime (10.45 to 11.05). Science teachers will be dissecting kidneys, PE teachers will be encouraging students to stay active through some games/activities, students will be allowed to wear green and potentially raise funds for the charity through this and the Charity will have information on display with the Dialysis Committee, GHA staff and dialysis patients so that students can engage with us all.
