Students spend day studying recycling

Enthusiastic Year 6 students from Bishop Fitzgerald School spent their Wednesday outside of the classroom, studying Recycling. They enjoyed a fantastic visit to Gibraltar’s Civic Amenities, where staff members from the Department of the Environment were keen to spend the hot and sunny afternoon showing the children around and explaining the various processes included in each relevant section within the site.

According to Jonathan Kay, Environment Officer for the Department of Environment, Heritage and Climate Change, this school trip is the result of an Education Awareness Programme that was created ten years previously and which was directly designed to raise awareness with Gibraltar’s schoolchildren in all environmental topics, ranging from habitats, marine environment and waste and recycling which are issues which have been in the spotlight both locally and on a grander worldwide scale.
