Gender Pay Gap technical meeting
In addition, Minister Sacramento was invited by the office of the Prime Minister of Iceland to another conference organized by the ILO and attended by the Nordic Council of Ministers, which was opened by the President of Iceland.
She said: “Last year was a landmark year in that for the first time in Gibraltar we issued a gender pay gap survey. The gender pay gap is a widely used indicator of gender equality in the workplace. We are working on numerous policies and strategies to reduce the gap and, as such, the inequality experienced by working women.
‘EPIC is a well-established, leading coalition. The presentations and panel discussions are very high level, presented by very experienced international experts, and EPIC has served as valuable network for us.
Iceland is considered a world leader in gender equality issues and we have made important connections on this trip. Discussions are essential in progressing not just methodologies employed in assessing the gender pay gap survey, which will for the first time provide a measurable indicator for us, but more importantly enable us to consider policy measures to address the gap.’
