Gloria Ophar-George, from global risk and compliance training provider IT Governance, will be in Gibraltar this week to deliver two courses on Data Protection.

The “GDPR Responsibilities – The Basics” course, hosted by Isolas LLP, takes place on Tuesday 9th April and will be followed by the 2-day “Certified Data Protection Officer” Upgrade course at Bleak House on Wednesday and Thursday.

Born in Dominica and educated in the UK, Ms Ophar-George is a Senior GDPR and Data Protection Privacy Consultant and the trainer of choice for the House of Commons, where she has delivered several courses. Over the last year, she has been to Gibraltar on four occasions to deliver various GDPR courses including the Certified EU GDPR Foundation and Practitioner qualifications.

Jo Abergel of Rock Learning, who has organised these training courses noted, “We are delighted to welcome Gloria back to the Rock once again. After her last visit we discussed offering a basic-level course for those with little awareness of data protection legislation as previous courses had been geared towards the risk and compliance sectors. Many front line employees handle personal data for either clients or staff and are not aware of their legal responsibilities for protecting this data. Tuesday’s course will be a jargon-busting day aiming to raise awareness of the responsibilities we all have when handling such data.”

Bradley Tosso, Deputy Information Commissioner from the GRA and James Montado from Isola’s will join Ms Ophar-George for a panel discussion at the end of the day.

The Certified DPO course is aimed at those who have already been awarded the Certified EU GDPR Practitioner award and want to further their knowledge and accreditation. Successful delegates of the course and online exam will become Certified DPOs for a 3-year period.
