Second inaugural visit by cruise liner this month

Second inaugural visit by cruise liner this month

Last Monday saw the arrival of this month’s second inaugural visit by a cruise ship. Sea Spirit, formerly known as the Renaissance V was built in 1991 in Carrara Italy by Nuovi Cantieri Apuania. The ship was then modified and refitted in 2010 to become more suitable for polar cruises.

MV Sea Spirit is migratory and follows the sun northbound in summer and southbound in Winter, always ready for spontaneous discoveries. The ship is 90.6 metres in length and has capacity for 114 passengers and 72 crew.

The ship is owned by SunStone Ships Inc and operated by Poseidon Expeditions. Its ice-strengthened hull and set of retractable stabilizers provide comfortable and safe navigation in Artic Regions. Her fleet of rubber inflatable boats for landings on wild shores and experienced crew all add up to the luxury expeditions on board this vessel.

This small ship offers exterior views from all cabins and an open seating dining policy thus creating a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

An exchange of plaques ceremony was held on board with the Captain of the ship and representatives from the Gibraltar Tourist Board, Port Authority and local agents, Alfaship shipping agency.
