Picardo and Garcia discuss tanker issue with Theresa May and other officials

British Prime Minister Theresa May has held meeting with Gibraltar’s Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and Depty Chief Minister Dr Joseph Garcia at a meeting in London. They left for London yesteday and return today.

This has the makings of an unscheduled meeting that arose at the last minute to discuss the detained Iranian oil tanker Grace 1.

The meeting also discuss the develping Brexit situation, which increasingly looks as a No-deal outcome.

However, the new European Commission president has said that she would not be against at there being an extension to the Brexit deadline, if there is a good reason for it.

If the opportunity arises it is possible Gibraltar's leaders will also meet Boris Johnson and Jeremy Hunt.

Officially this is the brief text isued in Gibrltar yesterday afternoon: "The Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister are travelling to London for various meetings with UK Government officials. Further meetings will be held tomorrow morning (Thursday) before Mr Picardo and Dr Garcia return to Gibraltar in the evening.

"Whilst they are away, Minister Cortes will be the Acting Chief Minister."
