UK will not swap arrested tankers with Iran, says foreign secretary

The UK government will not consider releasing the tanker detained at Gibraltar earlier this month in return for the Iranian authorities freeing a UK-flagged ship detained in the Strait of Hormuz, the new foreign secretary said Monday.

"There's no quid pro quo," UK foreign secretary Dominic Raab said in a BBC radio interview.

"We are going to be expressing and engaging with the Iranian authorities to make clear that we expect the vessel and the crew to be released," he said.
