GSD premises RANSACKED - Teenagers Arrested

It was in the early hours of Sunday morning when the GSD headquarters were broken into and the offices ransacked.

The GSD leader Keith Azzopardi was obviously shocked when he got to know what had happened. He said the police acted swiftly.

He has been putting a brave face to it, assuring that sensitive documents had not been stolen and that they were able to continue with their normal work yesterday.

GBC asked him if there was any political motivation, which was rapidly denied by Mr Azzopardi.

There were later suggestions that a group of people had been seen leaving the premises on early Sunday morning.

The chief minister Fabian Picardo condemned the incident and urged anyone who knew anything about it to contact the police.

(Update RGP): Officers investigating the spate of burglaries over the weekend arrested a 14-year-old juvenile male late-morning yesterday. They also recovered an amount of money during the course of a search warrant executed at his residence.

The juvenile was subsequently interviewed by officers in the presence of his appropriate adult and later charged with 4x counts of Burglary in respect of the burglaries committed at the GSD offices, Manchester United Supporters Club, Hyperion Wealth Management and BlackFriars Insurance brokers. He has been detained in police custody overnight and will be appearing before the Juvenile Court this afternoon.

During the course of last night a further three 15-year-old juvenile males have been arrested on suspicion of Burglary and are currently assisting police with enquiries.
