The lifeless body of an adult male individual has recovered from the sea approximately 1.5 Nm off Europa Point.
At around noon yesterday the RGP marine crew were alerted to a sighting of a body floating in the sea off Europa Point by the Gibraltar Port Authority. The marine crew made their way to the location and commenced a search of the area locating the body at around 12.35pm.
Whilst the body has not yet been identified, it is believed that it might be that of an individual of North African descent.
The body was conveyed ashore and subsequently taken to hospital. HM Coroner has been informed and a coroner’s investigation has been initiated.
