Cornwall's Lane: danger area

David Benady has appealed to PANORAMA for help in promoting a petition about the dangous traffic problem in Cornwall's Lane. Certainly this is a very narrow lane as you enter from Main Street.

Says Mr Benady: I am sure you have heard about the car swerving into Uncle Sams shop on a corner of Cornwall's Lane. Luckily no one was hurt.

But there was also the time when that careless motorcyclist crashed into Mothercare......two weeks ago another motorbike crashed into a young girl...

Many cars and motorbikes come up City Mill Lane and then swerve round corners on Cornwall's Lane too quickly with no sensitivity to the fact that pedestrians are on the actual road due to lack of pavement on that stretch.

Luckily only slight injuries have resulted from accidents so far but it should not take a fatality god forbid for road safety measures to be implemented.

Ruth Levy Schischa started a petition to Government of Gibraltar.

Following a number of dangerous incidents involving cars and motorbikes in an area in which many pedestrians (including young children, elderly people, people in disability scooters, children in prams) walk and pass through daily, we urgently need speed bumps installed to avoid any further accidents happening.

Having heard of the interminable problems in such a narrow lane, PANORAMA takes the view that something ought to be done about it without any further delay. Installing speed bumps should not be so difficult.
