In this New Year, let's develop Gibraltar as a Royal City State

In this New Year, let's develop Gibraltar as a Royal City State

With the dawning of a New Year, the remaining vestiges of colonialism ought to be removed from this British Rock of ours - and I will reiterate what I have said in the past, that Gibraltar should be granted Royal City status.

In fact, that we be known as the Royal City State of Gibraltar.

A 'city state' does not mean independence.

For example, the United States of America are not made up of independent countries. In fact, I think we are more independent than many of them. Already our Constitution also grants us more rights etc than any other region of Europe, for example.

But if the word 'state' is upsetting, we can call ourselves the Royal City of Gibraltar.

Be that as it may, it may not be amiss for me to return to my perennial idea that Gibraltar should be granted Royal City status. And why not?
