An ‘extra mile’ to find a deal that everyone wants on Gibraltar

While the UK and Spain had said that Sunday would be the limit of their talks, they agreed yesterday to go ‘the extra mile’ to see if that last-ditch attempt could clinch a deal in the trade talks, where Gibraltar is embroiled. 


Given what is at stake, EU president von der Leyen said, after her phone call with UK prime minister Johnson, that “we both think it is responsible at this point in time to go the extra mile.” But Johnson was not being too optimistic as negotiators carried on talking-as time was not on the side of a deal.
