An outline planning application for the site of the King George V building was unanimously approved yesterday at October’s Development and Planning Commission.

The site has a long history and has also been subject to the DPC twice before, once in 2015 and the other in 2018.
The development proposal consisted of three residential buildings with 12 dwellings that would contain penthouses, flats and duplexes. The original building will be retained, however two further blocks will be built on the North and South end of the KG5 building, with both of these to be a modern design whilst retaining features that will respect the main building.
