The wonders of Google are endless as their publishers take a leap in joining with Harvard to map out the brain in ways that has never been done before!

CONNECT AND FUNCTION
When looking at the way our brains connect and function so much is still unknown. The organ that has puzzled scientists the most is truly impressive. If you look at a brain it just appears like a useless lump of flesh but the way it holds our personalities, likes, dislikes and memories is a truly curious thing.
Imagery of a fruit fly’s brain is just the beginning of the advances that have taken place. The map clearly shows the 25,000 neurons of the fly in great detail, the image shown is a Google/FlyEM image. It stands as the highest resolution image that has been published of any animal to date.
The fruit fly’s 3D synaptic image really highlights the connect ability that their brains have and clearly displays 20 million synapses and the way they connect to 25,000 neurons. If you think how small a fruit fly is it’s a truly impressive milestone that they have accomplished.
