Walk-in clinic gives boosters a boost
In the last week of November, between 400 to 600 people a day were receiving their boosters, whereas after the opening of the walk-in clinic last week, staff were administering between 500 and 900 boosters a day, which Dr Carter stated was positive in terms of increasing uptake.
As of Friday 17th December, there are currently 24 confirmed cases of the Omicron variant in Gibraltar, therefore Dr Carter has stressed the importance of people not putting off the booster until after Christmas.
She told PANORAMA: “It is really important that people don’t put it off, get boosted - especially with the Omicron variant circulating. We know it is more infectious, we have already seen that and we are fully expecting the number of cases to increase here in Gibraltar over the next couple of weeks.
“Early indications are that you need to have double vaccination and your booster to give the best protection against this new variant”.
