Safer Internet Day campaign

Detective Sergeant (Ag) James Currer works in the Public Protection Unit and is leading on this year’s Safer Internet Day campaign for the RGP.

Speaking to PANORAMA, he explained the aim of Safer Internet Day here on the Rock: “The aim of Safer Internet Day here in Gibraltar is to promote safer and more responsible use of online technologies by children and young people around the world”.
Technology such as mobile phones, tablets and laptops have advanced extremely quickly throughout the years, with children and young people now having easier access to the internet than ever before. The Detective Sergeant explained how parents and guardians can educate their children to ensure they know how to keep safe online: “There are plenty of ways for you to safeguard your children, whether it is by ensuring an open dialogue with your children, educating them to use digital technologies safely and positively, or acting as digital role models.
