What do people really think of generic medicines? Governments place considerable emphasis on their use. 

Perhaps this is because their utilisation is often encouraged as a cost-containment measure; as they are generally less expensive than their proprietary counterparts. In this instance there is no necessity to recoup research and development costs, payer pressures and market competition.
