The urgent need for a Ministry for Family and Family Affairs in Gibraltar

Shortly before Christmas there was an unusual news item that although largely unnoticed by the general public, appeared to draw attention to the state of critical societal structures.

The Citizens Advice Bureau carried out an event, ostensibly to promote family values, which they characterised as “collective love and support to build a better community and give people a sense of belonging”.
It was an unexpected, rather ambiguous initiative – no definition of what they meant by the term ‘family’ was offered – that few people were aware of or could have anticipated.
