POLITICAL PARTIES MUST TAKE ELECTORAL REFORM SERIOUSLY

During the recent general election, Independent candidate Mr Robert Vasquez made a pitch for electoral reform and specifically for proportional representation.

This means changing the system of voting to one which reflects more accurately the way in which the electorate cast their vote.
REFORM
There is most definitely scope for looking into this further. Electoral reform is something that Panorama has long supported. Many will remember that the Legislative Council which was established here in 1950 was actually elected using a form of proportional representation. That version is known as the Single Transferable Vote.
