A peaceful protest walk against recent Government action, essentially related to traffic, planned for Monday has been stopped by Police intervention, with a letter sent by the Police Commissioner to an organiser which said: "I would point out that failing to conform to my directions under Section 63 of the Crimes Act 2011 constitutes an offence." More people carrying weight of the world on their shoulders?
Over many years I have worked, helped, assisted and advised many people and families with one of the most serious social problems ever ‘drug abuse’. I myself have been concerned, I have also been contacted several times during the last 3 months of pandemic confinement by people, who are beside themselves with worry or about a loved one’s suffering from some from substance abuse and more recently with others regrading serious mental health issues. Over the last 80 days we have all had to put up with restrictions on our freedoms, a lockdown, not being able to see friends or family or to go out. We’ve seen constraints on our ability to travel or to cross the border.
But what we have not seen is fatalities and that has largely been because of the discipline and respect with which the vast majority of you have viewed the lockdown rules. There is still a need for some self-restraint in days and weeks to come despite the onset of warmer weather and the natural desire to enjoy time out. Read more

As Spain struggles to get back on its feet after its own historical tussle with the Covid pandemic, huge fragile craters have also left the Spanish economy in a precarious state.
Madrid, with the latter situation in mind, has recently announced it is preparing to welcome foreign holidaymakers for the summer season and is also set to reopen its borders to foreign visitors from July. Read more

The Gibraltar Health Authority has taken the operational decision to close the Critical Care Unit 2 (CCU2). This mirrors the gradual unlocking of Gibraltar as a whole.
CCU2 has served for the intensive care of non-COVID cases over the last few months, while sus-pected or confirmed cases of COVID-19 have used CCU1. Read more
