The Gibraltar Federation of Small Businesses says it would like to thank the Government for their assigning of a Minister of Business who has a wealth of experience and knowledge as a local businessman. The GFSB has been asking to reinstate a Minister of Small Business for some time, and are pleased to see that this has happened directly after the election campaign. Read more

Within hours of the Ministerial reshuffle on Monday minister Albert Isola was on his way to London to present Gibraltar’s case at the 15th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention (“WCEC”) at the ExCel Conference Centre in London. In July 2019 the Guardia Civil initiated ‘Operación Hélice’ during the executive stage of a protracted investigation into shipments of large quantities of cannabis resin by an organised crime group in the area, which resulted in the seizure of approximately 3,500 kilos and the arrest of 29 Spanish nationals in the Campo de Gibraltar and Malaga, Spain, says the RGP.
A statement adds: At that time sixteen search warrants were executed at warehouses, residential premises and locations connected to this operation and numerous assets seized including several launches housed in warehouses linked to the organised crime group as well as other assets. This group was suspected to be led by a Gibraltarian man, with other local persons involved. Read more

GSD Leader Keith Azopardi has lost no time in announcing the Shadow responsibilities assigned to the Opposition. On Friday 8 May 2020, Gibraltar will have an additional Bank Holiday in order to mark the anniversary of Victory in Europe Day (VE Day) and to enable people to pay tribute to those who served in one of the most significant events in Europe’s history. 8 May 2020 is the 75th anniversary of the Allies’ formal acceptance of Nazi Germany's unconditional surrender of its armed forces on 8 May 1945. Unite has balloted its members at the Morrison's Store, following a Union recommended offer, after a long day of negotiations.
The offer put to our members consisted of a 2.1% consolidated pay increase. A £200 one-off payment for those employees moving from weekly pay to four weekly pay, in addition those employees affected by this change, could also take advantage of a soft loan, at the time the change will take place. 87.5% voted in favour.
