Voting in the Gibraltar general election was slightly ahead of last election's totals in 2015 when 70% of the electorate voted.
By early afternoon, over 20% of the electorate had voted.
The total number of voters is just over 24,000 - the highest ever.
The 15 polling stations close at 10pm, with the count starting shortly thereafter. Read more

Her Majesty’s Government of Gibraltar says it is pleased to announce that drivers will soon be able to apply online for an International Driving Permit (IDP). The GSLP/Libs held their last Press Conference yesterday on the topic of Brexit. The party had held two press conferences every day since last Monday to highlight the key points on their manifesto in a variety of areas such as housing, tourism, the environment, education etc.
Attending this specific press conference was the GSLP’s Leader Fabian Picardo and the Liberal Party's Leader Dr Joseph Garcia, who has been the minister for Brexit affairs. Read more

One important election issue I’m a sure politicians from all sides will be closely observing on Thursday is voter participation?
It’s fair to say that as a voting nation Gibraltar has always taken its democratic duties seriously recording some impressive voter turn out figures that would bring shame on many much larger democracies.
Voter Turnout Dropped in Last Election
The last election in 2015 registered a 70.8% voter turn out which was about 10% down from the 80.51% who voted in 2011. Though I don’t believe we can complain about local voter participation the 10% drop in the last election was surprising to many! Read more

Over 24,000 people are registered to vote at tomorrow's general election - though not everyone will do so!
But the number of registered voters has been on the increase since 1980 when 16,200 were registered to vote.
At the last general election in 2015, the number of voters was 23,328 but only 16,475 did so - that's almost 71%. Read more

The Government has announced that the new Adventure Playground at Laguna will shortly be open to the public from 9 am until sunset.
The Adventure Playground was closed in order to allow works to proceed on building the new Notre Dame and St Anne’s schools. Initially it was proposed that it would then only open to the public after school hours. However, as both schools have enough open play areas in patios and rooftops for their purposes, it will not be used by the schools and will be open during the day. This will be especially welcome by mothers with children of pre-school age. Read more
