Gibraltar Cultural Services, working alongside playwright, actor, director, and teacher, Julian Felice, will be holding the GibTalks event on Saturday 2nd February at the John Mackintosh Hall. The idea is styled on the very successful TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) series of talks (www.ted.com), GibTalks will see a range of local speakers deliver fifteen-minute talks on a broad spectrum of subjects with the aim of focusing on the anecdotal, the personal, and the light-hearted as opposed to heavy-going academics and agendas. Ilumina comes first in Junior section
Past concerns about the dwindling number of entries to the Three Kings Cavalcade were put to rest this year, as a total of 17 floats, including 'walking floats' took part in Saturday’s event, this is the second largest number ever according to the Cavalcade committee. Read more

Romanian national Ionut Alexandru Mocanu of no fixed place of abode, was yesterday ordered out of Gibraltar after appearing at the Magistrates Court on the strength of a European Arrest Order.
He had been stopped by Borders and Coastguards officers on Monday night, crossing the land border into Gibraltar. Read more

GOVERNMENT GUIDANCE NOTE ON PASSPORTS
*If the UK leaves the EU without a deal, the changes to the entry requirements for British passport holders, including those with passports issued by the Crown Dependencies (Guernsey, Isle of Man and Jersey) and Gibraltar, travelling to Schengen area countries will be applicable with effect from 30 March 2019. Panorama has previously reported on the environmental hazards at Little Bay. Now reader Jimmy Vella has sent in some images showing the M.O.D sewage pump at Straits View Terraces, inside a nature reserve, which show an environmental disaster which has been happening since the sewage pump started throwing sewage water to the sea just 100 metres close to Little Bay. The stench, says Mr Vella, is at times is unbearable. Read more

Well, lots of bangs really as the Rock was lit up by countless fireworks on New Years eve, and dogs and cats went whimpering under beds or into their owners arms.

If a General Election took place today, the GSLP Liberals would win but with a reduced majority compared to the last election in 2015.
The two opposition parties would roughly split the rest of the votes, with the GSD edging ahead of the Together Gibraltar party. Read more
