A documentary of the evacuation of the people of Gibraltar to Madeira during the Second World War will premiere in Gibraltar later this month.
Work on the project commenced in 2015, as part of the events to mark the 75th anniversary of the evacuation.
It will be recalled that the people of Gibraltar were first evacuated to French Morocco in 1940. When France fell, they returned to Gibraltar from where they were sent onwards to Madeira, Jamaica and the United Kingdom. The last evacuees returned to the Rock in 1951. Read more

Minister Sir Joe Bossano is currently in China participating in the 4th World Emerging Industries Summit at the invitation of Zhengzhou Municipal Government and the Asia Pacific CEO organization [APCEO].
Zhengzhou is the capital city of the Henan region. Although the summit was at regional level, the capital city has 40 million inhabitants with a further 60 million in the rest of the Henan region and would be considered a large country in a European context. Read more

Wendy Cumming of the GGCA says that given Minister Isola’s refusal to engage with the GGCA despite repeated requests from the GGCA since January 2017 to date, and the fact that important restructures and reassignments of roles and responsibilities have occurred with no union consultation, 'we feel we have no further option but to engage in industrial action. St Mary’s First School has celebrated Science Week 2019 with a bang - literally. Experiments have involved film canister rockets, elephant toothpaste, immersive messy play and plenty of other whiz, bang and pop experiments. Over the past two weeks, the pupils have focussed on science: they have been learning about scientists, being scientists themselves and conducting a series of experiments. Read more
