In the past, whenever Gibraltar and Spain are close to an agreement on anything, everyone can bet on the same usual suspects trying to put a spanner in the works. There are probably many out there with a vested interest in maintaining the present state of affairs and ensuring that there is no treaty. Read more

Marlene Hassan-Nahon’s latest torrent of haphazard, stale political occurrences shows two definite things about the leader of Together Gibraltar. A prodigious capacity to regurgitate obsolete anti-capitalist, high taxation slogans, and a solid claim to the title of ‘Cassandra’, prophetess of doom who predicts misfortune at every turn.

Three triathletes are representing Gibraltar in the Commonwealth Games; Robert Matto, alongside Andrew Gordon and Kelvin Gomez, who are both based in the UK, and all will be competing in the Men's Individual (Sprint Distance) Final on Friday, July 29th from 11am to 4pm. Read more

DELTA
The truth is that Covid has not gone away. A year ago the Delta variant started a new wave which threatened to spread like wildfire. The lifting of restrictions, the return of social mixing on a massive scale, virus fatigue and the mistaken notion that the worst is over have all combined to create a potentially explosive situation. The autumn and winter months need to be watched very closely. Read more

Holly O’Shea is the first athlete from Gibraltar who will compete in the sport of weightlifting, and additionally made history by becoming Gibraltar’s first qualified athlete to qualify for the Commonwealth Games with weightlifters required to obtain a Commonwealth ranking to compete. Read more

As part of the Summer Sports programme, the Rookie Lifeguard Course has been held at the GSLA GASA indoor pool. The course, which has been carried out on behalf of the Royal Life Saving Society [RLSS] of Gibraltar, has been jointly run by Lifeguard Trainer Assessors and Rookie Lifeguard Instructors Norbert and Mike Sene. We spoke to Norbert during the course’s final session on Friday to learn more. Read more
