The Department of the Environment would like to inform anglers that the Bluefin tuna Open Season has been suspended as from 12:00hrs hours today, Friday 8th July 2022 until Friday 5th August 2022 inclusive. The season will reopen again on Saturday 6th August 2022. The tuna weighing station will close today. Read more

In the end, the pressure of mounting resignations from his Government proved too great and the Prime Minister Boris Johnson has resigned.
However, his delayed action resignation will cause joy in some quarters, sorrow in others and sighs of disbelief all round. Here on the Rock, no matter what his effect on the United Kingdom, the general perception is that Boris has been a good Prime Minister in Gibraltar terms. Read more

The news that Madrid has again protested to London at the Eastside project will catch nobody by surprise. There have been protests galore ever since the rubble tip was designated as a prime area for development decades ago.

However, this time the details of the protest were revealed in answer to questions in the Spanish Parliament from a group of seven Vox MPs. The questions raised both the Spanish claim to the sovereignty of the waters and the potential environmental effects on the surrounding area. They also queried a potential increase in maritime traffic and the impact on Spanish fishermen. Read more

At 07:49hrs yesterday, Tuesday July 5th, the Gibraltar Fire and Rescue Service Emergency Control Room received a call from a member of the public informing of a fire at Devil’s Tower Road Car Park.
The vehicle was a seven seater Renault Espace and the fire appeared to have started inside the seating area, confirmed the GFRS. Read more
