Minister for Justice and Equality, Samantha Sacramento, has attended the annual conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians (CWP) of the British Islands and Mediterranean and Region of which the Gibraltar Parliament is a member.
This year's conference was hosted in Stanley by the Falkland Island Legislative Assembly and the theme of the conference was 'Combating Stereotypes in Small Jurisdictions' and explored different issues within that theme. Read more

The statement by the Chief Minister on GBC that the Government would never accept “a two-tier process at the frontier that [give] Spanish workers or European workers generally easier access to Gibraltar than Gibral-tarians have to Spain” is simply untrue because they have already precisely agreed that in the Withdrawal Agreement.
The GSD adds that this and the MOU on Citizens Rights recognize that frontier workers will have rights beyond the transitional period. There are no enduring rights of freedom of movement beyond the end of the transitional period for Gibraltarians who live and work here to go across to Spain.
The compilation of lists of Spanish workers apparently for the purpose of facilitating their smooth passage across the frontier can inevitably lead to a two-tier system of passage. Why else would they be compiled? Read more

The Leader of the Opposition has either still not understood the content of the Withdrawal Agreement between the United Kingdom and the European Union or is mischievously twisting the facts in order to mislead and confuse public opinion. This is because the latest Opposition statement on frontier workers bears little resemblance to reality. Read more

Unite, the union for workers in Gibraltar, is calling for a pause regarding any changes to the operation of and eligibility for community care, as well as full consultation with relevant stakeholders by Gibraltar Community Care Limited, including unions, charities and those that are or will in the future be participating in the community care scheme. Her Majesty’s Government of Gibraltar says it is pleased that the first meetings of two of the Committees established in the Gibraltar Protocol of the Withdrawal Agreement, and the Memoranda of Understanding under it, have been held today in Algeciras.
The Attorney General, Michael Llamas, led the teams of officials representing Her Majesty’s Government of Gibraltar at the meetings on Citizens Rights and Police and Customs Cooperation which were held yesterday. Read more

Opposition leader Keith Azopardi and Chief Minister Fabian Picardo have clashed over the Tax Treaty with Spain.
It follows Mr Azopardi having given notice yesterday that he proposes to move a motion in Parliament, which elicited a quick response from Mr Picardo, chastising the Leader of the Opposition. Read more

The Minister for Education, Gilbert Licudi , has appointed Sir Lindsay Hoyle MP as the new Chancellor of the University of Gibraltar. Sir Lindsay succeeds Lord Luce who was the first Chancellor having held the position since 2015.
Sir Lindsay Hoyle says he is “honoured beyond belief” at being appointed Chancellor of the University of Gibraltar.
The House of Commons Speaker said the small, narrow peninsula in the southern tip of Europe had “always held a special place in my heart”. Read more

The GSLP Liberals say they have noted the comments made in respect of Gibraltar Community Care Ltd by the trustees and directors of that charity and its underlying company and the statements by the GSD.
The GSLP Liberals remind the GSD that in 1996 Gibraltar Community Care held £60m in reserves and that by the time the GSD left office in 2011 the reserves of the charity had been reduced to ZERO. Read more
