Sunday 1st December is World AIDS Day. In Gibraltar, Friends for Life (the HIV/AIDS awareness and support group) together with the Gibraltar Health Authority’s Infection Control Team this year distributed free the now traditional Red Ribbons as well as information leaflet to Bayside and Westside Comprehensive Schools, Prior Park School, Gibraltar College and the University of Gibraltar on Friday. They encouraged all pupils and teachers to wear the ribbon on the day and all over the weekend in support of those living and those who have lost their fight against HIV. Read more

The GSD has given notice that it is to propose a motion to debate the Public Services Ombudsman’s report for 2018 at the next meeting of Parliament. This follows public comments by the Ombudsman that some of his recommendations are not being acted upon.
The GSD shadow Minster for Public Finance, Roy Clinton said:
“The Public Services Ombudsman has an important role to play in addressing complaints about the delivery of our public services and it is important that he is seen to have the support of both Government and Parliament in undertaking his role. Public Finance is not just concerned with the spending of money but also the achievement of outcomes and quality of services that are to be delivered. Read more

The Department of Equality will be giving an overview presentation of its “Disability, Language and Etiquette training seminar to members of the Gibraltar Federation of Small Businesses (GFSB) on Thursday 5th December. The talk will form part of the GFSB’s Breakfast Club initiative and aims to inform members of the benefits of making their business more accessible to people with disabilities as well as provide good customer care or management for people with disabilities. The session will end with a Question and Answer session. Read more

Nine students from Bayside and Westside Schools are back in Gibraltar after participating in a visit to the UK institutions and Commonwealth organisations in London. The visit was organised in conjunction with Mr Albert Danino and Mr Ivan Navas who accompanied the group together with their teachers. Read more

As part of its continuing Outreach programme, GSD MPs Roy Clinton and Damon Bossino met with Mr Mo Aswat, director of The Mosaic Partnership. The Mosaic Partnership has been tasked by the Gibraltar Federation of Small Businesses to work on a Business Improvement District initiative for Gibraltar. Read more

It was a miracle that no one was seriously hurt, when a motor bike was 'squashed' between two other vehicles in the Ragged Staff area on Queensway.
Initial information was that the motorcyclist suffered only minor injuries, despite the dramatic nature of the accident. The way it looks, it could have been worse. Read more
