The Gibraltar Philharmonic Society regrets to inform patrons that violinist Michael Barenboim has been forced to withdraw due to illness at this week’s performance, which is sponsored by the Parasol Foundation.
It is however a coup for Gibraltar that Maestro Chichon has secured the services of one of the most important and influential flamenco artists worldwide, Cañizares, to replace Mr. Barenboim at such short notice. Read more

The Chief Minister Fabian Picardo is in London where this week he will be hosting events around Gibraltar Day.
There will be a Finance Centre lunch today Tuesday at The Guildhall and an evening reception in the Gherkin. Those who attend the Finance Centre lunch now pay for their participation whilst the evening event has around 200 specially invited guests and a much sharper political focus. Read more

The news that a major gaming company is advising employees not to work from home if they live in Spain is a direct effect of the negative and harmful Tax Treaty entered by the Government, says the GSD.
The GSD says it has been warning for months that the Treaty was bad for jobs and bad for business. It is a disincentive to doing business from Gibraltar and to the attraction of inward investment. It has been reported that the action taken by this major gaming company is only “one of several locally based companies which are taking action in response to the Tax Treaty signed with Spain.” Read more

The RGP are vital to the Rock’s national security and prosperity operating in times of uncertainty, and are required to continually adapt to keep pace with the changing nature of global crime and security threats. The Government and the Gibraltar Philatelic Bureau have issued a set of six Christmas stamps.
The set of stamps covers the postage values used in Gibraltar for postal operations throughout the Christmas period, and they feature popular Christmas carols that many generations have grown to love. The stamps have been designed by local graphics artist Mr Stephen Perera and have been printed on a high quality special easy peel self-adhesive paper to assist postal users during the busy Christmas period. The Gibraltar National Archives (GNA) will hold an exhibition to celebrate the first 50 years of Archives in Gibraltar. The 50th anniversary exhibition of the Gibraltar National Archives was formally opened yesterday evening by the Deputy Chief Minister Dr Joseph Garcia at the Fine Arts Gallery in Casemates.
