ELECTION 2019
After participating in politics since 2011, I can honestly say that I am excited about the prospect of being able to introduce an apprenticeship programme which will, for the first time, allow for an well designed pathway for those young people within our community who do not wish to pursue higher education. We need to create a tailor made approach to guiding our young people which takes into account the current skills needs of our community and where we want to take our community in the future. If we are serious as a community about encouraging and persuading big business to come to Gibraltar, we need to demonstrate that our young people possess the skills to fill the jobs that this economic activity will create. David Benady has appealed to PANORAMA for help in promoting a petition about the dangous traffic problem in Cornwall's Lane. Certainly this is a very narrow lane as you enter from Main Street.
Says Mr Benady: I am sure you have heard about the car swerving into Uncle Sams shop on a corner of Cornwall's Lane. Luckily no one was hurt. Read more

With the Spanish government continuing to uphold their claim to Gibraltar's sea sovereignty, saying that the waters of Gibraltar are Spanish as was the case only this week at the UN, there is public concern that the RGP may be undermining the British position in such a sensitive political matter by their Commissioner's pally so-called cooperation with the Spanish police. JC Pons, Independent Candidate, running for this year’s general election with the environment hot on his mind, has been speaking to PANORAMA.
Do you think you could tell us a bit about yourself and your background?
Yes, well my name is JC Pons, I’m 62 years old, I have two lovely daughters and my wife who supports me in my venture to do something for our future. My studies were in building construction, unfortunately worked in the concrete industry for many years when I was young and ignorant I suppose, but then I did a lot of work into sustainable architecture when I was travelling abroad, trying to learn from sustainable cultures and I came back to Gibraltar two years ago and that is when I started doing local issues a bit more in regards to the environment. In the election fever that is whipping up at present, sweeping statements have been made by some; with the idea of hoping to besmirch the reputation of a certain party; without realising that without these being backed by some kind of proof, they remain “sweeping statements;” and therefore do not command credibility. Nevertheless, they can do much damage; not only because they sow the seeds of doubt in some people’s minds; but also as importantly, or more so, because the entire membership of that party finds itself branded by the supposed wrongdoings! ELECTION 2019
By JOE BOSSANO, GSLP Liberal candidate
At the end of this month the UK and Gibraltar are almost certain to leave the EU, without a transition period.
It is impossible to calculate how negative the effect on the economy will be. But you know from the election campaign debates that all three parties agree that it will be negative. Read more

ELECTION 2019
By ROY CLINTON, GSD candidate
The GSLP/Liberals during this election campaign will chose statistics such as debt to GDP ratios and official net debt numbers to claim that their management of debt levels is prudent and sustainable. This goes to the heart of the public finance debate and I need to explain why the GSD analysis differs so significantly to the GSLP/Liberal position. Read more

Spain has again said that Gibraltar waters are Spanish, at a time when The Convent has accused the Spanish helicopter of making an incursion over Gibraltar airspace. It all points at the serious incident on the eastside last Sunday and the naivity of the RGP of establishing so-called 'cooperation' with the Spanish which is leading to Spain making inroads into Gibraltar sovereignty.
