It is with deep regret that the Self-Determination for Gibraltar Group learnt of the death of William Serfaty. Willie, as he was known by all who knew him, was a founder member of the Group and regularly attended all our meetings and participated in all the activities that we organised, from being part of the group that presented the Self- Determination petition to 10 Downing Street to the symbolic burial of the Brussels Agreement. Dear Sir,
The 2010 ruling of the Spanish Constitutional Court that modified the Catalan Statute of Autonomy approved by referendum in 2006 opened the door to the major crisis that Spain is experiencing today. The support of a majority of Catalans for the independence of Catalonia is the answer to that arbitrary ruling. None of the Spanish parties - neither right nor left - have provided any solution. I refer to the debate on the recent Tax Treaty.
It is clear that those who are ordinarily resident in Spain should pay taxes in Spain and whether they are Gibraltarians or not, evading the payment of tax is not justified in any circumstances. No one is seeking to suggest otherwise. Read more

The Imam of King Fahd bin Abdulaziz Mosque in Gibraltar strongly condemns the terrorist shootings in New Zealand, stressing that terrorism is rejected by all heavenly religions, universal ethics and international norms. Dear Sir,
All letters addressed to RED SANDS ROAD end up in RED SANDS HOUSE and I, a tenant have to redeliver them to the rightful tenants in other blocks after getting their correct names and addresses from the telephone book.
Another problem is that all letters who just have the tenant’s flat number and ALAMEDA ESTATE ends up in ALAMEDA HOUSE. Read more

Recently the Gibraltar Fire and Rescue Service underwent Light Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) Team training in Gibraltar, delivered by instructor from Outreach North Wales and in line with the International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG) Guidelines, Volume II: Preparedness and Response; Manual A – Capacity Building.
