The Moorish Baths of Gibraltar
MUSEUM
The first time that it had been suggested to open a Gibraltarian museum was back in 1835. The suggestion had been put forward during a meeting of the Gibraltar Scientific Society. The group itself had consisted of British Army officers who would meet at the Garrison Library regularly.
The Gibraltar Museum holds many precious items and since its opening on 23rd July 1930 by the Governor of Gibraltar at the time, General Sir Alexander Godley it has upheld an inspired reputation. The amazing baths can only be accessed from the museums grounds. Completely cut off from people that are passing by every day, it’s sometimes the one diamond of history that often gets missed by tourists and locals alike.
