Like the rest of the world Gibraltar is in the middle of its third successive winter dealing with Covid-19, but this year there may be a difference this time as other respiratory diseases such as flu could become more of a problem as regular patterns of transmission have been halted during lockdowns. Gibraltar has, only a few days ago, featured in discussions between Argentina’s Secretary for the Falkland Islands and Spanish government officials and politicians. This came during the visit to Madrid of Ambassador Guillermo Carmona, Argentine Secretary for the Falklands, Antarctica and Southern Atlantic Islands. Read more

Dr Mark Garcia has been appointed Executive Medical Director for the GHA and will now form part of the Executive Team and GHA Board of Directors.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr Garcia played a critical role as co-lead in the COVID-ICU. Dr Garcia is currently also the Chair of the Medical Advisory Committee and Clinical Director of Anaesthetics and Intensive Care. Read more

Mrs Gibraltar 2022 Joely Ann recently competed in the Mrs Universe international pageant held in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Competing against 120 women from around the world, Joely made it to the top 25 in the final on Saturday, February 4th 2023, and received the Humanity Award in the Preliminaries. Read more

In the early hours of Wednesday 8th February, Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) of the Gibraltar Port Authority informed HM Customs of a vessel calling at Gibraltar that was at the time taking bunkers in the bay not far from the North Mole within BGTW. The vessel in question was the bulk carrier ‘BBG Journey,’ sailing under the flag of Hong Kong. Read more
