Last month, the government announced that it was set to introduce ‘Jack’s Law’ under which bereaved parents would be entitled to two weeks of paid leave from work. This legislation had become known as ‘Jack’s Law’ in UK, in memory of Jack Herd. Read more

The mayor of La Linea has recently sent a document to the Madrid government citing one of his preferences is the joint use of the Gibraltar airport. This reminds me of the last time that an airport deal was put forward, when Gibraltar went up in arms and there was a major demonstration of opposition to it. Read more

How bleak a sight to see people queuing outside the new health centre in bitterly cold weather at 7.30am, as I approached the hospital last Friday morning. No doubt, seeing the length of the queue, they must have started gathering outside the open entrance since 7am, or even earlier, to try and get to see a doctor that day.

Threat Level for Gibraltar Remains Unchanged
A meeting of the Gibraltar Contingency Council (GCC) took place yesterday, to review security and civil contingency matters, including Gibraltar’s preparedness for Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19). The meeting was co-chaired by the Governor and the Deputy Chief Minister, in what was the Governor‘s last GCC meeting. Read more

Spirit of Discovery Saga Cruises' first ever new-build ship. It’s the second Cruise Liner to take on bunkering while anchored in the Bay of Gibraltar, just off the North Mole tanks, since the Coronavirus WHO alert, says Joe Brugada who took the picture.
In another move, as it neared Gibraltar the same ship reported that, on board, it had 89 cases of suspected Norovirus (Diarrhoea, vomiting and fever). Read more
