Gibraltar’s Commissioner for Sustainable Development, Professor Daniella Tilbury, has become the UK Representative on a Steering Committee of the United Nations Economic Council for Europe. A letter, sent by the UK’s Department for Education to UNECE’s Chief of the Environment and Sustainable Development Section, confirmed that Prof Tilbury would be the UK national focal on matters relating to education and sustainable development. The Gibraltar Health Authority (GHA) says it is delighted to announce that it has entered into a contractual agreement with Clínica Universidad de Navarra, a Spanish private healthcare provider with tertiary centres in Madrid and Pamplona.
It is important to note that the system for referring patients to these centres in Madrid and Pamplona will remain as it is at present. This means, first and foremost, that the GHA will continue to use, as its primary referral route, its well-established pathways for specialist care to NHS hospitals. Read more

Rock Theatre's approach to Bothered and Bewildered was enough for them to take home the Best Play of the Festival. A fantastic all around performance by the cast ESPECIALLY Monica Ritchie as Irene. I was able to catch up with the play's Director Angela Jenkins to get her reaction.

The Gibraltar National Museum is developing a new collaboration in the research at Gorham’s and Vanguard Caves. This new link involves the Archaeozoology Unit of the Faculty of Archaeology at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands. The annual excavations at Gorham’s and Vanguard Caves are being extended to cover a period of three months (previously two months) and will commence early in May this year. Read more

The Gibraltar Rhythmic Gymnasts competed in La Linea in their groups competition, with more clubs coming from further afield to make this a very competitive and high standard competition.
GB squad Espoir Group did not compete but opened the competition with their routine as practice for this weekend’s qualification. Read more

Last Saturday was an incredibly sunny and fun-filled day for all, as a “Leprechaun Family Fun Day” was held at Ocean Village in aid of GibSams Charity. GibSams are the Gibraltar Samaritans who work within the local community to aid people who are distressed and in need of emotional support by providing an anonymous helpline for people to talk without prejudice. The GSD says it continues to be approached by local fishermen who are angry at the levels of illegal Spanish fishing that is taking place in our waters and at the double standards of the authorities who are policing the permit scheme. Read more
