As editor of Panorama daily, I was invited to deliver an address, in Spanish, at one of the summer courses organised by the University of Malaga.
The topic was ‘the military strategy of Gibraltar’. The other person invited was a former Spanish navy captain Angel Liberal whose father was the Chief of Defence in the days of hard-line Foreign Minister Castiella and General Franco. The addresses were followed by questions; there was also a round-table, which included a Spanish army colonel. Read more

Yes I believe that a peaceful demonstration might be in order, to voice our concerns; for whilst once upon a time it was always the policy of the Foreign Office to come out saying that although the Spanish pretensions were “certainly very irritating; in fact no one takes much notice of them.” Well, the world has moved on, and guess what, they do now!
