The positive impact of dyslexia in the workplace

The Gibraltar Federation of Small Businesses (GFSB) says it is extremely happy to partner with the Gibraltar Dyslexia Support Group (GDSG) in hosting the Diversity & Inclusion Seminar- the positive impact of dyslexia in the workplace. "Recently we have partnered with the Nautilus Project to encourage businesses to be more environmentally friendly, with GibSams to help highlight the importance of taking care of your employees' physical and mental health, and are very excited to now support the GDSG. Most things that benefit our employees end up benefiting our business. Please join us at this important seminar on Tuesday 24th Sept. To register please email Gibraltar Federation of Small Businesses Chairperson Julian Byrne," they say.

"GDSG’s ‘Diversity and Inclusion’ Seminar could not be more timely as global businesses grapple with the challenge of accommodating the increasing digitally-driven automation of the workplace. Astute and innovative businesses will, therefore, be working out ways to harness the innate ability of Dyslexics to excel in such an environment. The Seminar will open minds to the business benefit and staff well-being that can be achieved by harassing this decisive yet misunderstood ability. A timely opportunity, indeed, for Gibraltar’s business community – be sure not to miss it," says The Governor of Gibraltar.

The Gibraltar Dyslexia Support Group (GDSG) would like to thank the Gibraltar Federation of Small Businesses (GFSB) for partnering on this important seminar. The positive impact of dyslexia in our society and businesses is clear for all to see when you mention some of the famous dyslexic people. But how much do businesses know about dyslexia? And what are they doing to make their business inclusive and celebrate the strengths and weakness of diversity? At this seminar, we hope to start to address some of these areas and help dyslexic people flourish.

"We are happy to have Made By Dyslexia, EY and His Excellency the Governor speaking at the seminar and would like to thank them for their participation and support. A big thank you also goes out to our sponsors Kusuma Trust, Gibunco, BrightMed and Hyperion, to whom without their sponsorship this seminar would not have been possible,2 they say.

“I look forward to this opportunity to learn and explore how the qualities of dyslexia match closely to the pressing skill requirements of the changing world and how these abilities can be nurtured. I trust that this session will help us all see the value of proactively educating, recruiting, developing and retaining those with dyslexia. It promises to be an eye-opener!” said Nathan Payas, Senior Manager, EY Gibraltar.

Gibraltar fully endorses the Diversity & Inclusion Seminar on Dyslexia, as equality in the workplace is one of the main core values of the network. We look forward to the event in September and encourage our members to give it their full support and attend”, said Women In Business Gibraltar Chairperson Janet Brear.

"Hyperion and BrightMed are pursuing a mission of bridging souls and lands. Dyslexia when it is managed and supported by people as committed as the GDSG, can become an opportunity for what we can call brilliant individuals. This is why we are extremely happy and excited to support and sponsor the GDSG's Diversity & Inclusion Seminar on Tuesday 24th September," said Hyperion and BrightMed spokesperson Yan Delgado.
