Port operating ‘as much as normal as possible’

SPECIAL REPORT
By PETER TABERNER

The Port of Gibraltar will be hoping for a more prosperous summer than compared to last year, in particular an increase in tourism footfall and also a higher level of commercial activity.

On the commercial side of Gibraltar’s harbour, business has remained largely uninterrupted despite the onslaught of Covid-19, and is expected to continue on the same path for this year.
Although one of the main exemptions has been that crew changes have not been permitted due to the pandemic, and the restrictions put into place over the movement of people.
A government spokesperson said: “In terms of commercial activity it must be said that the Port of Gibraltar has continued operating as much as normal as possible, albeit with strict health protocols and procedures which have all been drafted with the guidance of the Director of Public Health Gibraltar (DPH).”
