“GREAT FAITH” DELIVERS ELDERLY HOME TO GIBRALTAR

One of the key pieces of the jigsaw that is the government’s National Economic Plan is expected to sail into Gibraltar today on board a Chinese freighter which contains the modular components for a new elderly residential home at Rooke. It will be recalled that there was a commitment in their 2019 manifesto to deliver such a new facility under the Plan. 


MODULAR
The novelty with this project has been the methodology of its construction. A skeleton structure at the northern end of the Rooke site was the visible successful conclusion of the first phase of the project. The Hong Kong flagged vessel “Great Faith” brings with it some 200 odd containers which are believed to be the modular units which will be slotted into the gaps in the existing construction. The outcome will be hundreds of purpose-built homes to house Gibraltar’s elderly, in a central location in the middle of town within easy reach of shops, parks, Main Street and medical facilities.
