Year 2 pupils at Governor’s Meadow Lower Primary School were recently given an educational presentation by Brian Gomila from Monkey Talks. Pupils learned about our local Barbary Ma-caques, their habitat and diet. What really captured pupils’ interest was finding out about the ways our Barbary macaques interact and communicate not only with each other but also with people. Understanding how to “read” a monkey’s facial expression, sounds and movements helps us in the way we need to behave around our Barbary macaques. Read more

The Gibraltar Government says it welcomes that the UK has confirmed that its position on the mandate to negotiate future relations with the EU will include Gibraltar.
This is contrary to the position set out in the negotiating guidelines issued by the EU to the effect that no future agreement between the EU and the UK will apply to Gibraltar. Read more

The first set of meetings of the committees established under the Withdrawal Agreement on the departure of the UK and Gibraltar from the European Union, which took place in the headquarters of the port of Algeciras on Wednesday 26th and Thursday 27th February, have now concluded. Read more

Minister for Justice and Equality, Samantha Sacramento, has attended the annual conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians (CWP) of the British Islands and Mediterranean and Region of which the Gibraltar Parliament is a member.
This year's conference was hosted in Stanley by the Falkland Island Legislative Assembly and the theme of the conference was 'Combating Stereotypes in Small Jurisdictions' and explored different issues within that theme. Read more

The statement by the Chief Minister on GBC that the Government would never accept “a two-tier process at the frontier that [give] Spanish workers or European workers generally easier access to Gibraltar than Gibral-tarians have to Spain” is simply untrue because they have already precisely agreed that in the Withdrawal Agreement.
The GSD adds that this and the MOU on Citizens Rights recognize that frontier workers will have rights beyond the transitional period. There are no enduring rights of freedom of movement beyond the end of the transitional period for Gibraltarians who live and work here to go across to Spain.
The compilation of lists of Spanish workers apparently for the purpose of facilitating their smooth passage across the frontier can inevitably lead to a two-tier system of passage. Why else would they be compiled? Read more
