In assessing the impact and lasting consequences for the tourism industry from the global COVID19 pandemic, Her Majesty’s Government of Gibraltar has taken the view that, as we emerge from a very difficult year for the leisure sector, itis essential to embark on a fresh drive to rebuild this vital part of our economy. At present it appears that all those things that greatly mattered to many Gibraltarians as far as their future status was concerned i.e. achieving representation at Westminster or self determination; are no longer on the table for discussion; having been put on the back burner for now; we don’t know in what order of preference. A question about Gibraltar in the European Parliament on 4 January has not been answered until now. It emerges that the Commission is currently working on a draft negotiation mandate to start negotiations on an EU-UK agreement on Gibraltar. Read more

Her Majesty’s Government of Gibraltar would like to remind all British Passport holders that, at present, due to COVID-19 restrictions in Spain it is not possible to travel by air into the country unless you can prove you are a resident in Spain.

The UK Government has included Gibraltar in the UK Community Renewal Fund for 2021-22. This means that projects in Gibraltar will be eligible for funding up to a maximum of half a million pounds. Read more
